Q: Will melaleuca be eradicated?

A: Eradication is usually only feasible when a pest has been detected early in the invasion process and is present in well-defined, localized areas where complete elimination is possible. That kind of opportunity is rare. Melaleuca has been here too long and is too widespread to eradicate completely. Instead the goal is to limit its invasive growth and spread so that it no longer dominates habitats, but is instead just another tree in the landscape.
