Validating the environmental safety of approved biological control agents
The goal of this research is to confirm the environmental safety of the melaleuca weevil and the melaleuca psyllid after their release in south Florida.
Specific objectives include:
- surveying agent release sites for incidence of non-target damage on the native plants identified in quarantine as sub-optimal hosts and
- quantifying the utilization of native or potential non-target plants in a common locality where agents have overexploited the surrounding melaleuca plants.
